Police have charged a 32-year-old woman today with the murder of a 50-year-old Mornington Island man.
Around 10am on April 9, police were called to a Wurrurku Street residence where they located the man deceased on the floor of a bedroom inside.
The deceased had blood on his face and what appeared to be a single stab wound to his upper abdomen.
A crime scene was subsequently declared.
A scientific officer from Townsville and detectives from Mount Isa Criminal Investigation Branch along with the State Flying Squad have been deployed to the Island to assist in the investigation.
Investigators are speaking to family members and neighbours in an attempt to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
The Mornington Island woman will appear in the Mount Isa Magistrates Court on April 16.
