A man who ran from rooftop to rooftop following two burglaries in South Melbourne yesterday has been charged by police.
The 45-year-old man has been charged with two counts of burglary, commit indictable offence whilst on bail and theft.
The charges follow several calls to police about a man who allegedly broke into an antique store on Clarendon Street and a home on Thompson Street on Tuesday 1 March about 7.45pm.
Detectives from Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit arrived in Thompson Street to find the man running from rooftop to rooftop.
The officers were able to negotiate with the man and cordon off the area.
They then climbed up onto the roof and assisted the man to the ground without incident.
The South Melbourne man has been held over to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
