The transformation of the Palm Beach Aquatic and Community Centre is taking shape and on track to be reopened in mid-2024.

The pool shells have now been poured and water testing has begun on the new undercover warm water pool, Learn to Swim pool and 25 metre outdoor pool. The waterplay area is taking shape and the community centre is ready for roofing to be installed.

“It’s great to see the Palm Beach Aquatic and Community Centre making significant progress,” Mayor Tom Tate said.

“These new facilities are going to inject fresh life into one of the Gold Coast’s most popular community precincts.”

“Once it’s complete, the precinct will provide the growing population of the Southern Gold Coast with a vibrant and contemporary destination for aquatic activities, fitness and community facilities.”

The integrated ‘lifestyle destination’ is set to open in mid-2024 and will meet the current and future demands of the Southern Gold Coast’s population growth.

The redevelopment will renew the existing facilities with larger warm water program and learn to swim pools, fitness centre and add a new 25-metre heated outdoor pool.

It will include a whole new and much needed community centre with multipurpose hall, meeting rooms, a dance studio, creche and new café.

The Palm Beach Aquatic Centre was built between 1977 and 1981 and has since become one of the most popular aquatic facilities on the Gold Coast.

“Having been built over 40 years ago, it had outgrown its serviceable life and no longer met current compliance standards. It was time for the City to make major upgrades to the facilities to meet the growing demand,” Mayor Tate added.

The new 25m pool is proudly funded by the Queensland Government’s Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program in association with the City of Gold Coast.
