Port Phillip grants open to Love My Place

Got a brilliant idea to breathe life into Port Phillip’s placemaking precincts? Love My Place grant applications are open for placemaking initiatives based in Fitzroy Street, St Kilda, and South Melbourne.

Passionate community members, creatives and entrepreneurs are invited to apply. Whether the project is big or small, if it energises our places, you can put your hand up to make a difference.

A total of $100,000 is available across the two sites, with a maximum of $10,000 given to a single applicant.

Applicants are encouraged to think outside the box and make original connections to each site through their ideas.

Mayor Dick Gross said the Love My Place grants were the perfect opportunity to trial innovative activations across Port Phillip.

“Port Phillip is jam-packed with dynamic places and precincts, and the Love My Place grants support our community to action their great ideas. Port Phillip is known for its creativity and I can’t wait to see the range of exciting applications we receive,” Cr Gross said.

“It’s important the projects capture the spirit of each precinct and take residents and visitors on a journey of delight and discovery. Fitzroy Street is famous for its sweeping boulevards and proximity to the Esplanade, while South Melbourne and Emerald Hill have significant heritage connections.”

Love My Place grants aim to support unique events and projects, ranging from Indigenous trails, pop-up playgrounds and picnic tables, to outdoor art installations, parklets or even an outdoor cinema.

Council support can include assistance with marketing and furniture hire, road closures, parking controls, permit approvals, permission to use spaces and much more.
