Port Stephens Aquatic Centres Winter maintenance closure dates announced

Port Stephen

Port Stephens Aquatic Centres will be undergoing essential maintenance works during the colder Winter months to ensure that the facilities are operating at full capacity when crowds dive back in for the Summer swimming season.

To ensure that year-round users are still able to use Councils pools during the Winter period, Council will be staggering our maintenance schedules to ensure that at least one facility will remain open for use of the public.

Charles Shaddock, Council’s Acting Community Contracts Coordinator, said whilst the work that is undertaken can sometimes go unnoticed, it is important that Council ensure that maintenance programs are upheld so that Council can continue to provide year-round use of these facilities.

” Council appreciates that our community pools are much loved assets. That is evident, given the numbers we have seen in our pools this year.” Mr Shaddock said.

“To ensure that Council can continue to provide our pools to the highest possible standard, we need to invest some time into the behind the scenes works at our pools. This includes essential plant maintenance, deep cleaning, painting and other general maintenance which unfortunately cannot be carried out whilst the pools are in operation.

” We appreciate that some of our dedicated swimmers use our pools year-round, so Council are working closely with our Contract Partners to ensure that our scheduled maintenance will have the least impact on these users as possible. We have worked hard to ensure that Lakeside Pool at Raymond Terrace will only close for 1 week”

“Council would like to thank the community in advance for their understanding and cooperation during our closure periods.”
