Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary recognised as being among the state’s best.
The Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary has been named a finalist in the prestigious NSW Tourism Awards for 2022, among 80 other finalists from across the state.
Now in its 32nd year, the NSW Tourism Awards celebrate business excellence, acknowledge business innovation and reward exceptional customer service. Parts of this year’s program have been modified to reflect the business challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic over the past 12-months.
The Koala Sanctuary is a purpose built eco facility that includes the Port Stephens Koala Hospital, the Newcastle Airport Skywalk, the Sanctuary Story Walk, Fat Possum Café and deluxe 4 star glamping accommodation. A partnership between Council, the NSW Government and volunteer care group Port Stephens Koalas, the Koala Sanctuary is focused on sustaining and protecting the threatened species for years to come.
Three other Port Stephens tourism businesses were also named finalists, including Oakvale Wildlife Park at Salt Ash, BIG4 Ingenia Holidays Soldiers Point, and Ingenia Holidays at One Mile.
Winners of the 25 award categories and two individual awards will be announced at a gala awards night in Sydney on November 17, and will then go on to represent NSW at the Australian Tourism Awards.
