Postal voting for the Saturday 4 December Local Government election opens today.
For this election, changes have been made to allow voters to apply for a postal vote if they are concerned about the COVID-19 situation. Applications close at 5pm, Monday 29 November. You can also make a pre-poll before 6pm, Friday 3 December.
Voting is compulsory for all on the electoral roll and absentee voting is not an option at local elections, so if you won’t be in Penrith on the day, again apply for a postal vote or make a pre-poll vote.
Your vote matters. Councillors work together to make decisions about what Council will do to meet community needs and how money should be spent in the best interests of the whole community.
In line with the Local Government Act, Council does not promote candidates through any of its channels. A list of candidates will be available from Council’s election services provider, the Australian Election Company after nominations close on Wednesday 3 November and information on those standing will be available from local news sources – both in print and online.
