Oshkosh, Wis. – Amcor-a leader in global consumer packaging-is bringing a PACK EXPO experience that will power brand owners to understand how packaging can help connect with their consumers, improve operational efficiencies, and meet their sustainability goals. Visitors can find Amcor in South Upper Hall, booth #7244.
Packaging experts from Amcor’s flexible and rigid packaging businesses will take visitors on a journey to discover packaging solutions that connect to today’s consumer trends, such as generational preferences, convenience, snacking and shelf-appeal. And with over 85% of Amcor’s portfolio having a more sustainable solution, the R&D team will be on hand to share how Amcor’s solutions require no compromise on performance.
“When choosing a material, we recommend considering the total sum of benefits – including a product’s total lifecycle – across the spectrum of available choices,” said Amcor Flexibles North America Sustainability Director John Wilson. “Our packaging innovation research and development teams can help brand owners identify the best solutions for their specific application requirements and environmental commitments.”
Interactive application powers up data-driven decision making for more responsible packaging
Amcor is excited to bring to PACK EXPO visitors an on-demand application that compares over 130 packages with a more sustainable solution, displaying the improvements in energy use, carbon footprint and water requirements. Amcor’s diverse portfolio of packaging solutions delivers recyclability for complex applications, reduces resource waste and increases the use of recycled content across packaging formats.
The company’s award-winning AmPrima™ portfolio of recycle-ready solutions are designed to be recycled, if clean and dry, at existing store drop-off locations, or curbside where available. They can also include post-consumer recycled content. Currently available for a wide range of markets and applications, AmPrima™ films often match the performance of current non-recyclable alternatives.
Amcor’s expertise in the inclusion of recycled content, with both mechanically and advanced recycled materials, can be experienced in the circular economy model highlighted at the center of the Amcor booth.
Amcor also is known for developing responsible rigid packaging and will highlight recent developments in light-weighting technologies, bottle design and engineering that helps deliver environmentally friendly packaging. This includes PowerPost™, DairySeal™ featuring ClearCor™ technology, and the Apex bottle. Additionally, these innovations will be featured as part of the PACK EXPO Sustainability Central.
DairySeal™ featuring ClearCor™ technology has been selected as a finalist for the PACK EXPO Technology Excellence Awards in the General Packaging & Processing category. Voting will take place when the show opens and goes through noon on Tuesday, September 1. The winner of each category will be announced on Tuesday at the show.
“Amcor Rigid Packaging is advancing cutting-edge technology that brings together the best in design, performance and sustainability for brands and consumers alike,” says Amcor Rigid Packaging Vice President for R&D, Sustainability & PM Excellence, Terry Patcheak. “Our packaging preserves, promotes and protects while delivering responsible solutions for sustainability in partnership with brands and products of all shapes and sizes.”
Live Amcor equipment/film packaging system demonstrations to showcase technologies that can significantly improve processing efficiencies, expand versatility, lower total cost and reduce materials
Liquiflex® VFFS pouch demonstration for 67% carbon reduction over cans
The Liquiflex® VFFS liquid pouch system – a more sustainable platform for foodservice products – will be operating at Amcor booth SU-7244. This versatile, flexible packaging technology is ideal for products such as soups, sauces, dressings and condiments. Liquiflex® pouches reduce carbon footprint by 67% compared to metal cans and provide as much as a 30% reduction in material thickness over competing structures.
Pouches are formed from strong, high-abuse roll stock, including Liquiflex® Advance™ films for hot fill, ambient and cold fill operations, and AmbiLoc™ films for shelf-stable retort applications.
Liquiflex® demonstrations will be live each day at 10:30 am and 2:00 pm.
Amcor’s Moda Bag vacuum packaging system demonstration with Amcor shrink tubing
The all-in-one Amcor on-demand bag-making and printing system also will operate at booth SU-7244 to demonstrate a single inline bag making system for boneless or bone-in meats and cheese. The Amcor Moda platform significantly reduces material and labor costs, enabling packagers to pivot production quickly to meet changing SKUs, product sizes and labeling needs.
The Amcor Moda system vacuum packages products from rolls of Amcor shrink tubing up to 17″ and uses high-resolution thermal transfer printing to deliver crisp brand graphics in line and eliminates the need to keep individual SKUs of printed shrink bags or labels in inventory.
Amcor’s Moda Bag will be running live demonstrations at all times of the show.
Film + machinery demonstrations running in all halls
Amcor film will be running in machinery company booths throughout all halls of PACK EXPO. Over 40 film specs will be demonstrating the efficiencies created between machinery and packaging film. Attendees can stop at the Amcor booth for a map handout to guide their trip through the show.
Join Amcor’s experts on the PACK EXPO Innovation Stages
Monday, September 11 at 1:00 p.m. MT Join Amcor Flexibles North America Sustainability Director John Wilson, and Sr. Product Development Engineer Justene Anderson, to learn how you can close the loop on the circularity of flexible films. New developments allow for much greater incorporation of recycled content into flexible films. The presentation will explore new pathways for recycled content incorporation, including advanced recycled materials, with life cycle assessment data to understand the environmental impact of recycled content. Wilson will also discuss the role of policy in the circular economy, and consumer perceptions of on-pack claims.
