Sport Integrity Australia today acknowledged the decision of the Australian Powerlifting Union to impose a four-year ban on athlete Alicia Bloom for the presence and use of a prohibited substance.
Ms Bloom returned an Adverse Analytical Finding from an in-competition doping control test on 27 March 2021.
Her sample was analysed at the Australian Sports Drug Testing Laboratory, part of the National Measurement Institute, which detected the presence of Prohibited Substance Ostarine.
It was determined that on or before 27 March 2021, Ms Bloom used a Prohibited Substance Ostarine.
Ostarine is prohibited at all times under the S1 Anabolic Agent category of the WADA Prohibited List.
Ostarine is a Selective Androgen Receptor Modulator (SARM) that is not approved for human use or consumption in Australia. SARMs pose serious health concerns, including increased risk of heart attack, stroke and life-threatening liver toxicity.
Ms Bloom is ineligible to participate in any sports that have adopted a World Anti-Doping Code compliant anti-doping policy until 27 March 2025.
