Preliminary flight paths for Western Sydney International (Nancy Bird Walton) Airport draw strong community interest

The preliminary flight paths for Western Sydney International Airport were launched in late June 2023, so the community could take the time to understand how they might be impacted, before the draft Environmental Impact Statement is released later this year.

Since then, the department has held 11 community information and feedback sessions and 3 information stalls in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains, as well as an online information webinar.

To date, departmental representatives have engaged with more than 1,000 community members, answering questions about the flight paths, and hearing resident’s feedback and concerns over the potential impacts. More than 235,000 people have also accessed the preliminary flight paths for the new airport, using the .

The department will be holding three more information sessions over the coming week:

  • Katoomba (19 August)
  • Parramatta (24 August)
  • Mt Druitt (26 August).

The department will also have an information stall at the Markets on the Lawn event in Mount Annan on 27 August.
