Bushfire warning level: WATCH AND ACT
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) advises there is a bushfire in Cooroibah, approaching Tewantin and Noosa North Shore and conditions could get worse.
You need to be ready to follow your bushfire survival plan. If you do not have a plan, or intend to leave, you should be ready to leave the area because the situation could get worse quickly.
Currently as at 6.35pm Friday 8 November, a fast-moving fire is travelling in a southerly direction towards Cooroibah as well as Tewantin and Noosa North Shore. It is likely to impact Tewantin and Noosa North Shore.
There are separate warnings specifically for residents in Cooroibah/Tewantin (formerly Teewah) and Noosa Banks. Residents in those areas must follow the directions in those warnings and authorities.
Fire crews are working to contain the fire but firefighters may not be able to protect every property. You should not expect a firefighter at your door.
People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.
Residents should travel in a southerly direction towards Noosaville. Evacuation centres have been established at Noosa Leisure Centre (Wallace Drive), Noosaville Library (Wallace Drive), The J Noosa (Noosa Drive), Girraween Sports Complex (Eenie Creek Road), Nambour Showgrounds and the Christian Outreach Church at Eumundi. Domestic animals are welcome at the Noosa Leisure Centre and the Nambour Showgrounds.
Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe your property is under threat.
