Families in Byford are benefiting from the new $19 million Beenyup Primary School which was officially opened today by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery.
Beenyup Primary School opened its doors to 170 students from kindergarten to Year 6 at the start of the school year. The school was built to accommodate 540 students and will ease enrolment pressure from the nearby Woodland Grove Primary School.
The school includes three general teaching blocks, an art room, early childhood teaching block, administration block with adjoining dental therapy centre, library resource centre, and a covered assembly area with a canteen and music room.
There are also hard courts, a cricket pitch and nets, an oval and parking for staff and parents.
The construction of the school created an estimated 300 jobs plus opportunities for teachers and staff.
As stated by Premier Mark McGowan:
“My Government has undertaken a significant program of building new primary schools across Perth’s growing suburbs.
“The new school will ease pressure on existing facilities and will deliver first-class education for local students for years to come.”
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
“I am thrilled to officially open this fantastic modern school that will provide students with every opportunity to achieve now and in the years to come.
“Byford is a really popular suburb for families. This new school is an asset to the local community and is already providing high-quality learning experiences for students.
“The classrooms are bright and welcoming and I’m sure that students will find them inspiring to learn in.”
As stated by East Metropolitan Region MLC Matthew Swinbourn:
“The opening of Beenyup Primary School is great news for local families.
“Students at Beenyup are learning in fantastic new classrooms equipped with the latest technology, and are being taught by excellent, experienced teachers.
