Primary School To Open Again In Guildford

VIC Premier

The Guildford community will have their own local primary school again with demand for enrolments meaning the Victorian Government can reopen the facilities.

Minister for Education James Merlino and State Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards today announced that the primary school campus in Guildford would reopen next year to meet local demand for student enrolments.

Enrolments are now open for Preps to Grade 6 students for the 2021 school year.

The school will operate as a campus of the Campbells Creek Primary School, rekindling a previous arrangement between the two sites. The partnership will provide students with the social and academic advantages of a larger campus, along with the sharing of teachers and resources.

The Guildford campus is expected to cater for about 20 school aged children during 2021, with enrolments forecast to grow in coming years. School zones will be updated to account for the site’s reopening.

Enrolled students will be located at the main Campbells Creek Primary School site while upgrades are rolled out by the Victorian School Building Authority at the Guildford campus. Works will include a new toilet block, upgrades to staff amenities, improved accessibility, and works to ensure the site is bushfire compliant.

The reopening is just one of the ways that the Government is ensuring that the education needs of every Victorian child is met as it builds the Education State.

The Victorian Government has invested $7.2 billion to build 100 new schools and deliver more than 1,460 school upgrades, while supporting more than 7,500 construction jobs for Victorians.
