Prime Minister Anthony Albanese joined world leaders in Bali this week for the G20 Leaders’ Summit, under the theme “Recover Together, Recover Stronger”.
As the premier forum for international economic cooperation, the G20 plays a critical role in steering the global economy through the significant challenges it faces.
G20 Leaders discussed action to address global food insecurity, the climate crisis, rising energy prices, rising inflation and cost of living pressures.
Prime Minister Albanese shared Australia’s commitment to seizing the opportunities of the net zero transformation, and articulated our actions to support ambitious global climate action.
Australia is playing its part to support the global transition clean energy, bolster supply chains and scale up sustainable financing, while supporting our Pacific partners.
The Prime Minister announced Australia will contribute $50 million to the Pandemic Fund, hosted by the World Bank, to improve pandemic prevention, preparedness and response.
With global partners, Australia reinforced its condemnation of Russia’s illegal and immoral invasion of Ukraine.
While in Bali, the Prime Minister delivered a keynote address to Australian and global business and industry leaders at the Business 20 (B20) Summit.
The Prime Minister also met bilaterally with President Widodo of Indonesia, President Xi of China, President Macron of France, Prime Minister Modi of India, Prime Minister Sunak of the United Kingdom and Prime Minister Meloni of Italy in the margins of the Summit, and joined President Michel of the European Council and President von der Leyen of the European Commission for the Australia – European Union Annual Leaders’ Meeting.
The Prime Minister will now travel to Bangkok, Thailand to attend the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting.
