Take the opportunity to prioritise mental health at our free community workshops taking place across Baw Baw Shire throughout August and September.
Organised by Baw Baw Shire Council in partnership with GriefTalks and Mindful Aus, the workshops are designed to support community members over the age of 18 with their emotional wellbeing, building connections, and starting conversations.
During the workshops, participants will explore how to navigate all forms of grief, loss and change through hands-on activities, and will learn strategies for topics such as:
Losing a loved one,
Changing relationships,
Loss through natural disaster,
Job loss,
And other change and losses experienced throughout life.
Baw Baw Shire Mayor Cr Annemarie McCabe is pleased that these important sessions are being offered to the community.
“These sessions are a step towards reducing the stigma that is often associated with mental health, and they address a crucial need that will help residents to feel more supported and learn skills to better navigate those difficult times in their lives,” said Cr McCabe.
“I’d encourage people to sign up, not just so that they can learn how to take care of their own mental health, but also so that they can share their new knowledge with friends and loved ones and be an advocate for others experiencing tough times.”
The free community workshops will run for 2.5 hours, and will be held at the following times and locations in Longwarry, Yarragon and Trafalgar:
Wednesday 14 August at Longwarry Public Hall, Longwarry
Wednesday 28 August at Yarragon Bowls Club, Yarragon
Thursday 19 September at Longwarry Public Hall, Longwarry
Wednesday 25 September at Bettermentall Hub, Trafalgar
Places for the workshops are limited and bookings are essential.
