Five prison officers from Hakea Prison have been charged by Financial Crimes Squad after the investigation was referred to WA Police Force by the Corruption and Crime Commission (CCC) and the Department of Justice.
It will be alleged that one officer, a 36 year old man of East Fremantle, assaulted a 34 year old sentenced prisoner at Hakea on 12 November 2018.
This officer, along with four others, then allegedly made false entries in official records to conceal his conduct.
A 27 year old woman of Eglington; a 29 year old man of Caversham; a 44 year old man of Kewdale and a 55 year old woman of Canning Vale have each been charged with Falsification of Records by Public Officer (Section 85(a) Criminal Code). They will each appear in the Armadale Magistrates Court on 8 December 2020.
The 36 year old man of East Fremantle has been charged with Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm and Falsification of Records by Public Officer and will also appear in the Armadale Magistrates Court on 8 December 2020.
