Program improves digital skills for Indigenous community

More than 100 participants attended 32 sessions to improve the digital literacy skills and access to learning opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Council obtained a $10,000 grant to deliver free Deadly Digital Communities (DDC) community-based digital technology skills training program at Cairns Libraries and through partnerships with Deaf Services, Cairns Safer Streets and Mooroobool Hub

Community Centre.

The program was delivered at targeted locations to maximise its reach, including Manoora, Manunda, Woree, Bungalow, Mooroobool and Earlville.

The DDC program has been an ongoing partnership between the Queensland

Government led by State Library of Queensland and Telstra and supports bridging the gap of the digital divide in Indigenous communities.
