Toowoomba detectives investigating several recent property, vehicle and driving related offences have arrested three teenagers including a 16-year-old boy who was charged with 21 offences including vehicle stealing, robbery and dangerous driving.
It will be alleged a Toyota Rav 4 stolen during a break-in of a Kearney Springs home in the early hours of January 15 was seen at several property offences committed in the Wilsonton Heights, Rangeville and Oakey areas on Sunday, including attempted break-ins, theft of property and threatening violence.
Police will also allege the stolen vehicle was driven around the Tooowomba area yesterday at time dangerously and at high speed, with police, including Polair tracking its movements.
Police attempted tyre deflation devices at two locations during the afternoon which were unsuccessful with Polair continuing to track the stolen vehicle relaying information to police on the ground.
The driver, alleged to be a teenage boy, was arrested by police at a Campbell Road, Oakey service station at around 5.15pm, when he exited the vehicle.
Police will allege at the time he was carrying a gel blaster and was attempting to steal another vehicle when arrested.
The 16-year-old Centenary Heights boy will appear in the Toowoomba Childrens Court charged with 21 offences including – (child under 18) – four counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and receiving tainted property, as well as three counts of unlicensed driving, two counts each of enter premises and commit indictable offence and stealing, and one count each of dangerous driving, threatening violence, no authority to possess explosives (ammunition), robbery, enter premises and commit indictable offence and attempted enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence.
Two 17-year-old girls, from Kingaroy and Kearney Springs, alleged passengers in the Rav 4, were taken into custody at the scene.
One has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is due to appear in the Toowoomba Childrens Court at a later date.
The second girl was dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justices Act in relation to four counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count of possess drug utensil.
No one was physically injured and police investigations are continuing.
