Property Council Appoints New Retirement Living Executive Director

[27 September 2022]

The Property Council of Australia has today announced the appointment of Daniel Gannon as Retirement Living Executive Director leading its Retirement Living Council (RLC).

Mr Gannon, who is currently the Property Council’s South Australian Executive Director will commence in the role on October 4, following the resignation of former RLC Executive Director Ben Myers.

Property Council Chief Executive Ken Morrison said he was delighted with Mr Gannon’s appointment. “Daniel is a respected and highly experienced Executive Director, and after eight years of loyal service in SA, we are excited to have him take on this new role within the organisation,” Mr Morrison said.

“Daniel brings a pedigree of advocacy success, deep industry knowledge, strong member engagement and a powerful knack for delivering positive outcomes to this national level role,” he said.

“I know he’ll hit the ground running, building on the great existing work of the RLC to continue delivering for our members and the industry as a whole,” he said.

Mr Gannon has served as the Property Council’s SA Executive Director for the past eight years, where he led major public campaigns, built on his significant network, and influenced significant policy decisions affecting the property industry.

Prior to joining the Property Council, Mr Gannon worked as the Director of Media and Communications for then-Opposition Leader Steven Marshall, as well consulting at the South Australian Cricket Association.

Mr Gannon said he was excited to be joining the Retirement Living Council.

“I’m honoured to be taking up this role and continuing my commitment to the property sector through the Retirement Living Council,” Mr Gannon said.

“The senior living industry has a crucial role in delivering housing choice for Australia’s ageing population, and I look forward to driving our advocacy agenda in the interests of our valued members and the Australian community.

“My family actually has a long history of building and managing retirement villages around the country, so I know the industry and its incredible people, well,” he said.

Mr Morrison thanked outgoing RLC Executive Director Ben Myers for his contribution to the organisation over the past six years.

“Ben has led the Retirement Living Council with great professionalism, integrity and strength, and we wish him well for his next adventure,” Mr Morrison said.

RLC President M-L MacDonald said Daniel brings with him a wealth of experience. “I extend a warm welcome to Daniel and look forward to working with him on the future direction of the industry,” Ms MacDonald said.

“I would also like to congratulate Ben Myers on his time with the RLC, his commitment to members and industry leadership, and wish him well for his future endeavours,” she said.

Mr Morrison said South Australian Life Member of the Property Council and former Executive Director, Bryan Moulds, will re-join the Property Council as Interim South Australian Executive Director, effective 7 October, while recruitment for the permanent role is underway.
