The Great Barrier Reef Foundation is joining forces with L’Oréal to protect coral reefs now and into the future, through a new long-term partnership.
Climate change is the biggest threat for the Great Barrier Reef and coral reefs worldwide. It is a global threat that requires global action.
L’Oréal has committed to a 10-year investment that will support:
- a world-leading method to calculate the value of coral reef biodiversity
- the deployment of 2 million heat-tolerant corals on the Reef by 2030.
The partnership will help fund a component of the world-leading Reef Restoration and Adaptation Program (RRAP), which is funded by the partnership between the Australian Government’s Reef Trust and the Great Barrier Reef Foundation (GBRF).
The RRAP partners include the Australian Institute of Marine Science, CSIRO, the Great Barrier Reef Foundation, The University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology, Southern Cross University and James Cook University.
Through the Reef Trust, we are supporting a range of initiatives that are helping to build the Reef’s resilience to climate change.
