Protestors arrested in CBD

Four people have been arrested following protest action in the city this morning.

Just before 8am on Thursday 18 May police responded to reports of a protest at a business on Flinders Street.

It will be alleged between two men and two women paint was thrown on the building and graffiti was marked.

A 68-year-old woman from Victoria was charged with property damage and mark graffiti, a 50-year-old man from Victoria was charged with property damage, a 49-year-old woman from NSW was charged with property damage and mark graffiti and a 66-year-old man from Flagstaff Hill was charged with disorderly behaviour and property damage.

Three members of the group were refused police bail, the fourth person did not apply for bail. All four are expected to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.

Acting Superintendent, Paul Sinor Officer in Charge of Eastern District says “People have a right to protest peacefully and lawfully with SA Police having maintained a professional and patient approach this week. Blatant disregard of the disturbance to the public peace and damage to property will not be tolerated. Police will continue to maintain a highly visible presence throughout the CBD”
