Local community sporting facilities will benefit from much-needed upgrades funded through a $10 million grants program from the Rockliff Liberal Government.
Minister for Sport and Recreation, Nic Street, said the Tasmanian Active Infrastructure Grants Program is now open for applications.
“This Government has committed $10 million over two years for the program, to fund community sporting facility upgrades across the State, following the success of previous programs such as Levelling the Playing Field and Improving the Playing Field,” he said.
“Through these previous programs, our Government has invested $25 million in more than 160 projects across the State.”
Under the Tasmanian Active Infrastructure Grants Program, grants of $25,000 to $70,000 will be provided through the small grants stream, and grants of $70,001 to $500,000 will be provided through the large grants stream. Applicants must contribute at least 20 per cent of the total project costs.
Applications for both streams open today and close on 25 September 2023 for the small grants stream, and 13 November 2023 for the large grants stream.
“Providing appropriate, fit-for-purpose sporting facilities and infrastructure for Tasmanians to get active is vital to growing participation rates,” Minister Street said.
“New or improved facilities will keep our community clubs and organisations sustainable by helping them attract and retain members.
“This program will also provide a boost to the local building and construction sector, helping to create local jobs.”
