Pyalong Kindergarten And MCH Redevelopment

Work begins this week on the Pyalong Kindergarten and Maternal and Child Health Facility upgrade.

This project is made possible thanks to a $500,000 Victoria Government Building Blocks grant and underscores Council’s commitment to supporting the families and children of Pyalong by enhancing essential community services to meet contemporary standards of care and education.

The Pyalong Kindergarten and Maternal and Child Health Facility redevelopment will be executed in two stages, with the goal of modernising and expanding the current facilities to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment for early learning.

Stage 1: Enhancing Maternal and Child Health Facilities

Timing

Construction begins end of May 2024 and concludes by September 2024.

Works include

  • Relocation of the disabled toilet to accommodate a new staff toilet.
  • Reconfiguration of the waiting room to include a new kitchenette facility.
  • Upgrades to the shared kitchen facilities used by Kinder and MCH services.
  • Refurbishment of internal surfaces and trimmings.

Access during construction

  • The kindergarten access will continue through the existing gate, with no changes to the current parking arrangements.
  • Maternal and Child Health services will be temporarily relocated to Kilmore during the construction period.

Safety and considerations

  • The project has been meticulously planned in collaboration with an experienced Architect, Builder, Children’s Services Team, MCH, and the Department of Education and Training. We aim to ensure the safety and minimal disruption to the children, families, and staff throughout the construction phase.

Stage 2

Following the completion of Stage 1, we will apply for additional funding through the Department of Education for Stage 2. If successful, these works would proceed in 2025.
