A leader in the pursuit of justice for individuals, Rodney Hodgson, has been awarded the Australian Lawyers Alliance’s (ALA) Member of the Year for 2021.
“Rod has made an enormous contribution both to the ALA and the legal community more broadly over many years,” said Mr Graham Droppert SC, ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ President. “Rod has been a member of the ALA since the early days of the organisation and he has contributed in leadership roles at both a state and national level.”
Mr Hodgson was ALA’s Queensland state president in 2015/16 and was the Queensland director on the ALA ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Council from 2014 to 2020. He is an active member of many sub-committees and special interest groups, and has regularly given his time and expertise freely as a speaker at ALA conferences and seminars.
“Rod works with courage, vision and energy to enhance and protect access to justice for those who have been dealt a misfortune in life,” said Mr Droppert SC. “His contribution to the ALA, its values and achievements have been truly outstanding.
“Rod’s policy work on behalf of the ALA has included advocating for the protection of common law rights in relation to the state CTP and workers compensation schemes, the NDIS and NIIS, Comcare and more.
“Rod’s leadership and his active engagement in the ALA through policy development, lobbying and representation have been instrumental in ensuring the organisation is effective.
“Year after year Rod’s ongoing commitment to justice and his support of the ALA are exceptional, and we thank him for his hard work and his valuable leadership.”
