“Ai Group welcomes the State Government’s bid for the 2032 Olympics. Hosting the Olympics would impact positively on the State and on our regions as well as Australia more broadly and it would build our reputation nationally and globally,” Ai Group Queensland Head, Rebecca Andrews said today.
“We will be working to ensure that any bid planning includes a strategy that supports locally-based businesses. Queensland’s procurement policy has a patchy history at best, with locally-based businesses often feeling overlooked. These businesses need to feel they will have full and fair opportunities to benefit directly from this bid.
“The Olympic bid could dovetail well with the State Government’s national Cities Deal for South-East Queensland. This would bring together the three levels of government and the community to help align infrastructure planning strategies for the region over the long-term. A successful bid and having a clear start and completion date for the Olympics would certainly focus the minds of stakeholders in this program.
“We look forward to working with all levels of government to achieve benefits from the Olympic bid for the community, industry, and for jobs growth and wealth creation. It will also help to build more liveable cities and regions,” Ms Andrews said.
