Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers from the South Brisbane District, Domestic, Family Violence and Vulnerable Persons Unit (DFV&VPU) joined representatives from the Small Steps 4 Hannah Foundation at the Torian Pro last weekend. The team engaged with the community to support the prevention of domestic and family violence (DFV).
By raising awareness of DFV and what a healthy relationship looks like, the QPS aims to empower community members to seek support if they identify unhealthy behaviours in their relationship.
A healthy relationship is trusting, supportive and safe. No one should be scared by their partner or someone in their family.
Domestic and family violence does not always involve physical violence, it can take many forms including coercive control and non-physical forms of abuse. It’s in our control to end coercive control.
The QPS is committed to empowering communities to recognise the signs of DFV, intervene safely, and support victim survivors effectively.
Whether you’re an officer, community member, or organisation, everyone has a role to play in ending DFV.
The QPS is committed to working with and for the community to end domestic and family violence.
