QPS recognised as blood donation champions

Commissioner Ian Stewart and Liam Richardson from Red Cross

Today, Commissioner Ian Stewart attended a Red Cross breakfast and accepted an award on behalf of the QPS for having the highest blood donations across all Queensland government departments for 2018.

We are pleased to announce that a total of 2205 QPS officers and staff members from across the state took part in the Red Cross challenge and donated.

Today Commissioner Ian Stewart congratulated all police officers and staff members who rolled up their sleeves for this great cause.

“This annual challenge, not only supports a great organisation, but encourages friendly competition between our fellow emergency service colleagues,” Commissioner Stewart said.

“Through the course of their work, members of the police service know how important and life-saving blood donations can be.

“Participating in this challenge is another way police can support their community.

“I am proud to accept this award today, however it is important for all of us to remember the real winners are those who received the blood donations.”
