Queensland Government’s biggest round of reconciliation grants now open

Queenslanders can now apply for a share in $250,000 towards ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Reconciliation Week 2020 celebrations as part of the Palaszczuk Government’s biggest round of reconciliation grants.

Deputy Premier, Treasurer and Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships Jackie Trad said additional funding through the Celebrating Reconciliation Small Grants Program would help more communities celebrate reconciliation across Queensland.

“The third round of Celebrating Reconciliation Small Grants Program is our biggest ever,” Ms Trad said.

“It means even more councils, community groups and Queenslanders can celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, traditions and histories that continue to shape our state.

“We’ve more than doubled the amount of funding from past rounds to support up to 45 reconciliation events next year as part of ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Reconciliation Week 2020.

Ms Trad said the Queensland Government’s Celebrating Reconciliation Small Grants Program had proudly supported 68 reconciliation events across Queensland since it launched in 2018.

“The Celebrating Reconciliation Small Grants Program is our dedicated reconciliation grants program and represents a genuine commitment to supporting reconciliation in the heart of our communities,” she said.

“This year’s grants program funded 28 reconciliation events across Queensland in celebration of ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Reconciliation Week 2019.

“Past rounds have inspired a wide range of reconciliation activities including traditional performances, cultural displays, art exhibitions, story-telling and fun runs to bring together Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous Queenslanders in the spirit of reconciliation.

“Beyond ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Reconciliation Week, the Queensland Government recognises that reconciliation is an ongoing commitment 365 days a year, every year.

“Statewide consultation is underway as part of our state’s Path to Treaty and I encourage all Queenslanders to join the conversation as part of our shared journey to reconciliation.”

Through the Celebrating Reconciliation Small Grants Program, Queenslanders can apply for up to $15,000 in funding to support activities during or around ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Reconciliation Week 2020.

Applications close 9am (AEST) on Monday 9 December 2019.
