Queensland Labor still doesn’t get it

Australian Conservatives Release

Queensland taxpayers are having to fork out $320,000 for former US Vice-President Al Gore to present lectures with Premier Palaszczuk on climate activism.

The Conservative Party’s position on climate alarmism is that it is a dangerous UN cult designed to redistribute wealth and hand increasingly more control of sovereign nations to the UN and that nothing we do to mitigate climate change can make a jot of difference.

In hubristic anticipation of a Shorten Labor victory at the 18 May federal election, the Trad-dominated, coal-shy Palaszczuk Labor government signed off on a $320,000 visit by global warming guru Gore, to lecture and “train” Queenslanders on climate alarmism and how to wreck their economy for zero gain.

Guru Gore – whose US mansion, other assets and jet-setting lifestyle has the carbon footprint of a town – will run a three-day training (and “community organiser“) session in Brisbane during Queensland’s inaugural Climate Change Week in early June.

According to its own website, “… [t]he Queensland Government will host political, business and community representatives from across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region at Queensland’s first ever Climate Week from 2-8 June 2019.

Climate Week QLD 2019 will provide a forum for leaders and sub-national governments to share ideas and build a community of action against climate change.

Activities throughout the week includes a public program of arts, music, and panel discussions, a First Nations Summit, and climate leadership training with former US Vice President Al Gore and the Climate Reality Project for between 800 and 1,000 people.

Community groups, businesses, universities, not-for-profit groups, schools, landholders and individuals have been invited to host a climate action event during climate week.”

This week of alarmist propaganda and activism will critically feed into a green paper on climate change strategies the Queensland Labor government is developing and planning to release a month or so later.

The strategies developed will seek to achieve Qld Labor’s ambitious (unrealistic, economy-destroying) targets of meeting 50 per cent of its energy needs from renewable energy by 2030 and have zero net emissions by 2050.

Premier Palaszczuk will share the stage with Guru Gore towards the end of the Climate Change event where the two are scheduled to give key note CEDA addresses.

The timing of this climate change love-in, activism and propaganda fest coincides with key milestones on the Adani coal mine approval schedule agreed by Premier Palaszczuk soon after Queenslanders voted federally for jobs, coal mining and baseload power over economy-destroying climate gestures and RET-ruin through evermore “unreliables”.

As the Courier Mail writes, “… ironically, a week after the former US Vice-President personally trains volunteers, the state’s Co-ordinator-General must finalise Adani’s groundwater approvals after the Premier said she was “fed-up” by delays.

Resources Minister Matt Canavan yesterday labelled the “hypocrisy” a “sequel to the Bob Brown (anti-Adani) convoy”.

“I welcome Al Gore to our great state,” Senator Canavan said.

“I hope he can hear the message of how our state’s fantastic coal creates jobs, powers the world and produces a better environment because it is cleaner. This sequel to the Bob Brown convoy ramps up the hypocrisy: fewer electric cars, more private jets. When Bob Brown brought a convoy to Queensland, he got the Adani mine going within weeks. We Queenslanders should think about what major dam or power station we want Al Gore to target so he can help us get that going too,” he said.
