Queensland Police Recruiting Team Mobilise In Melbourne

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) Recruiting team is heading to Melbourne from April 29 to May 4, where they will hold recruiting seminars and provide opportunities for people interested in a policing career in the Sunshine State to learn more.

Experienced police and Victorians considering a career change in tropical Queensland can connect with the QPS recruiting specialists to discuss eligibility, the application process, and the range of support incentives available.

at a QPS recruiting seminar from April 29 to May 1, or find them at the VCE and Careers Expo from May 2 to 4.

Right now, current or recently serving police from interstate and overseas jurisdictions can apply to join the QPS.

They may be eligible for various financial incentives, including a $20,000 relocation allowance, higher pay than mainstream recruits from day one at the academy and could earn more after graduation in recognition of their previous experience.

Additionally, experienced applicants could be fast-tracked to the frontline through the 18-week Police Abridged Competency Education (PACE) program at the QPS Academy in Oxley, Brisbane. By comparison, applicants without policing experience undertake the 36-week mainstream Recruit Training Program (RTP).

Inspector Howard Kemp, manager of QPS Recruiting, said he is keen to provide these opportunities for Victorians interested in a career with the QPS to meet with the recruiting team in person.

“Since the beginning of 2023, 59 officers from Australian police jurisdictions, including 25 from Victoria, have been accepted into the PACE program at the QPS Academy in Brisbane.

“Almost 100 experienced police from other Australian states are currently going through the application pipeline.

“Some of these officers are embracing the opportunity to move closer to family living in Queensland, while others are pursuing a lifestyle change for their families.

“The incentives we are offering experienced police are a valuable investment in our people as we reaffirm our commitment to building a robust and resilient Service to keep communities across Queensland safe.

“With our tropical climate, long daylight hours, and abundance of opportunities for a healthy work-life balance, there is no better place for a policing career than Queensland.”
