Queensland Police Service granted White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) is committed to protecting and supporting victims of domestic and family violence and holding perpetrators to account, and today is proud to be formally re-accredited as a White Ribbon Australia Workplace.

This accreditation process, finalised in October, represents recognition of the significant amount of work being carried out across the state to create safe, respectful, inclusive and equitable workplaces for our members.

Commissioner Katarina Carroll said the accreditation was a testament to the work being done across the Service to enhance policies, programs and training to create an enhanced understanding of domestic and family violence and support employees who are affected by domestic violence.

“We are very proud of the steps being undertaken by QPS members to empower both the community and fellow colleagues to stand up, speak out and be part of this social change, to build a culture of respect, gender equality, and a zero tolerance for violence,” Commissioner Carroll said.

“Being formally re-accredited is an important step for us as an organisation and sends a strong message both internally and externally.

“Domestic and family violence is an incredibly important issue for us as the Queensland Police Service and we believe that everyone has the right to live without fear of domestic and family violence.

“As a community and as individuals we can all play our part in the prevention of domestic and family violence. Together, we can make a difference.”
