At approximately 9.30pm on Monday (23 December), four wagons of a Pacific ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ freight train derailed at Mingela on the Mount Isa line.
The impacted wagons were transporting copper anodes.

No injuries were sustained or environmental impact caused.
As a result of the event, the rail corridor between Sellheim and Mingela is currently closed for all rail traffic.
Safety is Queensland Rail’s priority and as such, it is anticipated the line will remain closed to all rail traffic for approximately five to seven days while repair works are completed.
As a result, the following Inlander services have been cancelled. Buses have been arranged to transport impacted customers.
- Saturday 28 December – Westbound Inlander
- Sunday 29 December – Eastbound Inlander
Queensland Rail will continue to liaise with freight customers on the Mt Isa line regarding the incident and recovery.
Queensland Rail is working with Pacific ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ and the Office of the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Rail Safety Regulator to investigate this incident.
