Eight years ago today the Leader of the Opposition and the Shadow Treasurer voted for the LNP’s first budget and locked in cuts and job losses for Queenslanders.
Treasurer Cameron Dick said key members of the LNP’s current team including Deb Frecklington, Tim Mander, Jarrod Bleijie and David Crisafulli supported Tim Nicholls’ first budget which led to 14,000 Queenslanders losing their jobs.
Among those to lose their jobs under the LNP were 4400 health staff, including 1800 nurses and midwives.
“Now more than ever, Queensland needs a plan for our state to Unite and Recover from the damage wrought by COVID-19 – and only the Palaszczuk Government has a fully funded plan to do that,” the Treasurer said.
“We’ve told Queensland how we will we are paying for the plan that is delivering our economic recovery.
“Deb Frecklington and the LNP are a risk to that to that recovery.”
“They have outlined $23 billion in promises and now have to release details of the cuts they’ll make to pay for them.
“Before Campbell Newman because Premier, he said government workers had nothing to fear.
“Then the LNP sacked 14,000 Queenslanders.
“Those sackings and the cuts to vital services that came with them were all supported by Deb Frecklington and Tim Mander.
“How many workers will they sack this time to pay for their $23 billion in unfunded promises?
“The only person who can answer that question is Deb Frecklington – she should answer that question today.
“Deb Frecklington is good at cutting, good at criticising but not good at coming clean with Queensland.”
“Once again, her mates in the LNP like Peter Dutton are calling for Queenland’s borders to be opened based on their own political motives, rather than the sound health advice that has got us to where we are today.
“Queensland cannot afford Deb Frecklington’s lack of judgement, and the risk it poses to our health and economic wellbeing.”
