A new report has found that the Palaszczuk Government’s Powering Queensland and Affordable Energy Plans are working and delivering more stability and lower prices for Queenslanders.
The Premier updated Parliament today on the Auditor-General’s recently tabled financial audits for the Queensland Government’s energy entities.
The report said quote: “Within the national wholesale electricity market, Queensland continues to have the lowest wholesale electricity price, which influences the price consumers pay.”
And since…
“… the Queensland Government introduced its Powering Queensland Plan… Queensland prices have become less volatile”.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the report states that because of these actions “Queensland continues to have the lowest prices” in the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Electricity Market.
“The report outlines that the state government gave back $1.07 billion to consumers in the form of rebates and subsidies. This included funding to support the additional cost of supplying electricity to regional Queensland,” the Premier said.
“This includes the large increase in rebates and concessions under our Affordable Energy Plan including “initiatives such as a $50 dividend to households, rebates for energy-efficient appliances, and interest-free loans for solar and battery systems.
“My government has been able to reinvest the returns from our energy government owned corporations into lower prices because we kept our public power stations and poles and wires in public hands.
“By keeping our power assets in public hands, we can offer greater stability and keep the lights on not just here in Queensland but also over the border in New South Wales.”
