Minister for Health, Mental Health and Ambulance Services Shannon Fentiman has joined local MPs to officially open the new Redlands Satellite Hospital.
The facility opens to patients from 28 August 2023 and will provide high quality healthcare closer to home for Redlands Coast and Bay Islands residents.
A Minor Illness and Injury Clinic will provide urgent care options and take pressure off nearby emergency departments, including Redland Hospital.
This clinic will be open from 8am to 10pm daily, and is equipped to treat simple fractures, sprains and strains, head injuries without loss of consciousness, and a range of other urgent, conditions. It also includes on-site medical imaging.
Redlands Satellite Hospital will also provide a range of specialist and outpatient services including a Cancer Day Therapy Unit and Kidney Dialysis Unit.
More than 100 health care workers have been recruited to staff the new Satellite Hospital including doctors, nurses, administration officers, allied health practitioners and operational staff.
The facility is one of seven being delivered across the South-East as part of the Queensland Government’s $377 million Satellite Hospital Program designed to provide quality urgent care closer to home.
Satellite Hospitals in Bribie Island, Eight Mile Plains, Kallangur, Ripley, and Tugun will open later in 2023 and in 2024.
