Latrobe City Council is pleased the Federal and Victorian Governments are investing in local rail connections that will benefit Latrobe City residents with improvement works at Morwell and Traralgon stations underway.
A new platform and waiting room at Morwell Station are taking shape along with construction of a second platform and accessible overpass at Traralgon Station. Upgrades at the Traralgon Station will also provide a relocated bus exchange with more seating and shelter for users.
Additional services between Traralgon and Melbourne will be enabled following the works which are expected for completion in 2022. This will be supported by a new signalling system which will be introduced in 2023.
Council advocates through its Strength Led Transition for road and rail corridor upgrades and community connectedness and is pleased these works will complement these efforts.
Community members are encouraged to visit VLine’s website for temporary coach replacements during works at . A free shuttle bus will be provided while the existing Traralgon pedestrian overpass is closed from 5 August.
Mayor of Latrobe City, Councillor Kellie O’Callaghan thanked the Federal and Victorian Governments for their investment in the $532.8 million Gippsland Rail Line Upgrade that will benefit Latrobe City.
