Stage 3 works on the rehabilitation of raingardens in Seagrove Estate in Cowes is about to begin.
This Project is a continuation of previous raingarden renewal works completed within Seagrove Estate.
The work will be carried out around Currawong Close, Lorikeet Lane, Seagrove Way and Rosella Grove from Monday, 4 May and is expected to take around six weeks to complete, weather permitting.
This $100,000 Project is fully funded by the Council as part of its 2019/20 Capital Works program.
Raingardens are specifically designed garden beds that slow and filter stormwater runoff from the road, surrounding areas or stormwater pipes. Raingardens are also called bio-retention systems because they use soil, plants and microbes to biologically treat stormwater.
The Project will include the removal of sediment, re-establishment and revegetation of raingardens, as well as the conversion of three existing raingardens to grass swale.
If required, traffic, pedestrian and site environmental measures will be put in place while these works are being carried out.
Council appreciates that these works may present an inconvenience to the community in the Seagrove Estate area and asks for patience throughout the works.
