Pascoe Vale’s Gaffney Village shopping strip is set for a new lease of life as Moreland Council gets ready to start work on streetscape improvements in February 2020.
Council’s Shopping Strip Renewal Program will deliver widened footpaths, pedestrian crossings, street furniture, landscaping, up to 25 new street trees and a rain garden, including elements of water sensitive urban design.
Moreland Mayor Cr Lambros Tapinos said the improvements are just one of the ways Council supports smaller strips in Moreland.
“We want to improve the amenity, connectivity and safety for Moreland residents, while also encouraging local economic development” said Cr Tapinos.
“Moreland is known for its vibrant hubs and we are working hard to create great spaces for the community to come together, connect and enjoy.”
Construction at the shopping strip, located at Railway Parade and Gaffney Street, is expected to be finished by August 2020.
Moreland Council’s Shopping Strip Renewal Program aims to revitalise local activity centres and improve pedestrian access and walkability around our shopping precincts.
Moreland Mayor Cr Lambros Tapinos is looking forward to the new amenities for the Pascoe Vale community at Gaffney Village.
