Study Queensland’s Indian education team has helped a Queensland-based sport training and education business hit a six on the Indian sub-continent.
Sport Minister and Minister responsible for Study Queensland, Stirling Hinchliffe today congratulated Roo Sports International and Study Queensland on taking Ready Steady Go Kids to India.
“It’s terrific to see Queenslanders putting runs on the board overseas with the help of Study Queensland,” Mr Hinchliffe said.
“Earlier this month, Roo Sports International’s scientifically designed Ready Steady Go Kids program for pre-schoolers and younger, debuted in Mumbai and Rajkot.
“This education and training export has been made possible by Study Queensland’s Indian business connections and local knowledge.
“I want to thank the Study Queensland team for helping to broker a partnership between Roo Sports and emerging Indian academy Sports Gurukul.
“With a Roo Sports franchise agreement in place, Sports Gurukul has launched Ready Steady Go Kids in two Indian cities with nationwide expansion planned.
“Ready Steady Go Kids demonstrates the golden export opportunities possible for Queensland education and training providers on our green and gold runway to the Brisbane 2032 Games and beyond.”
Ready Steady Go Kids engages one to six-year-olds in physical education training to build motor skills, teamwork and enthusiasm for lifelong participation in sport.
Programs are targeted to specific ages and include physical and social skills, confidence building and fair play.
Roo Sports International is co-owned by two-time World Cup-winning Australian cricket coach John Buchanan and has the master franchise rights to Ready Steady Go Kids.
A previous agreement to take the program to India stalled with the pandemic, but in July last year Study Queensland put Roo Sports in touch with Sports Gurukul and a partnership flourished.
On the Speaker’s Green at the Queensland Parliament today, Mr Buchanan said Study Queensland had been instrumental in helping Roo Sports International move into India.
“One of the upsides of Covid for Roo Sports International was it allowed us time to connect with the right Indian partner,” Mr Buchanan said
“We have huge expectations that Ready Steady Go Kids will be able to impact the lives of hundreds of thousands of young children in the next decade.
“We’re grateful for the expert support and advice of Study Queensland and in many ways, they have become an extension of our team.”
Study Queensland works within Trade and Investment Queensland to create Queensland job opportunities by providing international education and training to overseas students.
