Real solutions for local traders in Essendon and Moonee Ponds

Liberal Party Victoria

As part of the Liberals and ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s’ $30 million Local Shopping Strip Recovery Plan, Rose Street, Essendon and Puckle Street, Moonee Ponds will each receive $200,000 towards upgrades and amenity improvements.

After the devastating impact COVID restrictions had on small businesses, this grant plays an important part in getting them back on their feet.

The Local Shopping Strip Recovery Plan will help revitalise Victorian shopping strips with funding for projects including supporting local activation events such as streets fairs, or improvements such as outdoor dining spaces, planting vegetation and trees, employing local mural artists and designers, and lighting and footpath upgrades.

Shadow Minister for Small Business, David Southwick, said local traders have done it tough throughout the last two years.

“For Victoria to be number one again, the first step is to give local traders positive and practical support so they can stay open and grow their business.”

“Only the Liberals and ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s have real solutions to give small businesses across the state the confidence and certainty they need.”

Liberal Candidate for Essendon, Angelo Baronessa, said getting Essendon and Moonee Ponds residents to stay and shop local is a primary focus for local traders in the community.

“I’m proud to be part of a Liberals and ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s team that’s focused on backing local communities like Essendon and Moonee Ponds.”
