Real-time information is now available for Metro services in Hobart, Launceston and Burnie on the Metro Tas app.
Minister for Transport, Eric Abetz, welcomed the announcement saying this was a strong improvement to the overall passenger experience.
“Up-to-the-minute public transport information is an important innovation to create a more reliable, convenient and accessible public transport network,” Minister Abetz said.
“After this service began to roll-out late last year, we are already receiving positive feedback about the new way to access real-time information about public transport.
“Having easy-to-access live information ensures Metro customers will be at their bus stop at the right time and able to plan their travel with ease.
“It is now our intention to closely monitor and review how the technology is working to provide the best possible experience for the Tasmanian travelling public.
“This is about continuing to improve public transport statewide – encouraging uptake, ensuring ease of access and building upon our existing initiatives.
“The real-time technology rollout builds on the 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future which is also delivering a statewide smart ticketing system and half-price fares.”
Real-time tracking can also be accessed on the Google Maps app.
