Victorians can now access the $3500 battery Solar ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s rebate when they bundle their new rooftop solar with battery storage – making it easier than ever to join the thousands of people enjoying the benefits of solar power.
Minister for Solar ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s Lily D’Ambrosio said changes made by the Government mean consumers no longer have to wait until they have solar panels installed before being able to access the rebate for batteries. Previously home or business owners had to wait until solar PV was installed to be able to access the rebate.
More than 4,000 Victorians have already accessed the battery rebate. With summer fast approaching, there has never been a better time for solar households to take further control of their energy bills with added battery storage.
On top of the savings coming from having rooftop solar panels, installing a battery can help a typical household save hundreds of dollars a year.
Households can use solar-generated electricity to reduce their bills, charge their battery at times of the day when grid electricity is cheaper, or install a system designed to provide backup during a power outage.
The Victorian Government’s $1.3 billion Solar ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s program is delivering a clean energy revolution across Victoria’s suburbs and regions, helping thousands of families take control of their energy bills.
Over ten years, the program will install solar panels, solar hot water systems or batteries on 770,000 homes across the state.
Victorian households can take advantage of rebates for either a battery or solar system.

As stated by Minister for Solar ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s Lily D’Ambrosio
“We have listened to industry and Victorians. Increasingly, people want to bundle a new solar PV system with a battery or upgrade their solar to maximise the return from their battery.”
“This change will make it easier for more households to reap the benefits of combining a battery with solar PV as part of their home energy system.”
“It’s another way we are putting power in the hands of Victorian to help them save money and reduce emissions.”
