It’s a prestigious honour. And here is your opportunity to nominate someone you feel should be added to the list.
Nominations are now open for the Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM) as part of the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours.
The AFSM is awarded for distinguished service to fire services across Australia. Only one award is presented to an individual, and recipients are entitled to use the post-nominal letters AFSM. Medals are awarded biannually in the Australia Day and the Queen’s Birthday Honours lists.
Introduced in 1988, the medal is awarded twice a year in recognition of distinguished service by a member of an Australian fire service.
Each year CFA coordinates nominations for the medal to ensure the best possible opportunity for our people to receive the award.
Any CFA person can put forward a nomination for someone they know who deserves to be honoured.
The AFSM is awarded by the Governor of Victoria at a dedicated ceremony at Government House in Melbourne.
By participating in Australian Honours we recognise the exceptional contribution our people make in their communities, in Victoria, across Australia, and even internationally. To nominate someone you know visit the .
