Recognising the Nominees of the 2024 Senior Australian of the Year Award

As a proud sponsor of the Senior Australian of the Year Awards, we are delighted to acknowledge the exceptional nominees of 2024.

The awards celebrate the:

  • vital contribution older people in Australia make to our nation
  • passion and commitment of award winners to help others, live well, stay healthy and maintain their connection to community.

This year’s nominees have each made a remarkable contribution. Areas range from multicultural advocacy to medical care, animal welfare, education, and social welfare.

The nominees are:

  • – a dedicated volunteer and multiculturalism advocate
  • – who has been instrumental in shaping Australian animal welfare
  • – who has devoted his life to providing medical care for disadvantaged and ageing Australians
  • – from the Gold Coast who are founders of the food charity Havafeed Relief
  • – an esteemed teacher and linguist
  • – a Sister of Mercy known for her contributions to education and community service
  • – an innovator and founder of the Centre of Entrepreneurial Research and Innovation
  • – the founder of Tasmanian housing non-profit Colony 47.
