The Tasmanian Government’s work to boost police numbers continues, with the latest cohort of recruits graduating from the Tasmania Police Academy today.
Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management, Felix Ellis, said the 21 new constables will take up posts at stations right across the State.
“There are record numbers of police on the beat around the State and under our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future we are committed to recruiting even more Police,” Minister Ellis said.
“During their 28 weeks of training these recruits have been gaining firsthand experience, which together with their wide range of skills and life experience will set them on a path to success.
“There is no doubt about it, we are growing our police force. This year alone there have been seven recruit training courses undertaken.
“These recruits range in age from 18 to 42, which shows policing is a valid career option for anyone with the right attitude and values.
“Tasmanians have told us they want a government who keeps them safe and that’s exactly what we are doing.”
