Hooking a barra in the Territory is about to make some lucky fishos a lot richer as Season 7 of Million Dollar Fish officially opens today.
For Season 7, 100 barramundi worth $10,000 each have been released across all five fishing regions in the Top End including the Tiwi Islands, Darwin, Katherine, Kakadu and Arnhem Land.
The popular fishing competition, underwritten by SportsBet, is back with a record pool of prize money up for grabs, including a total of eight red-tagged Million Dollar Fish now released in Territory waterways (one for this season, and seven from previous seasons, which remain active).
Over the course of the competition, at least one Million Dollar Fish has now been released in each of the five fishing regions.
Each time a registered angler hooks a $10,000 fish, an additional $1000 will be donated to an official charity partner of Million Dollar Fish Season 7.
Big Fish Gear have designed a unique, collector’s edition fishing shirt for Season 7, with the popular merchandise now a staple in any mad keen fisho’s wardrobe. The shirt is available to purchase from Big Fish Gear and a range of Darwin businesses.
Fishos who register for Million Dollar Fish automatically go into the Lucky Prize Pool for the chance to win a swag of great prizes every month such as Shimano fishing combos, Britz campervan getaways, Engel fridges and freezers, Top End holidays and experiences, and much more.
To celebrate the start of Season 7, there will be a special Million Dollar Fish event at Anaconda in Jape ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾maker Village, Darwin, this Saturday from 9am until noon. Eager fishos can score 20-50 per cent off storewide, go in the pool to win a $4,500 fishing prize, enjoy giveaways and a barra-smoking demo, and even take advantage of a free reel spooling.
