REFLECTIONS HOLIDAY PARKS MARK EARTH HOUR

Reflections Holiday Parks

REFLECTIONS Holiday Parks throughout New South Wales will switch off all non-essential lighting this Saturday, 25th of March, at 8.30pm for one hour, to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and a healthier planet.

Reflections is the only holiday group in Australia that is a certified social enterprise, reinvesting all of its profits for social and environmental good in the 36 holiday parks and 43 Reserves that it cares for on Crown land.

Reflections Holiday Parks will observe Earth Hour and switch off all non-essential lighting between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on Saturday, March 25.

Reflections’ CEO Nick Baker said that there was never a more pressing time to support Earth Hour, a global initiative which raises awareness of the importance of saving energy and the need to better protect the health of our planet.

“This initiative is particularly timely considering the extreme weather conditions many communities face, including in the areas we operate,” Mr Baker said.

“This year’s Earth Hour theme of #taketimeoutfornature is something that we encourage our guests to do every time they stay with us, and we will on March 25 encourage them to participate in Earth Hour. Every bit counts in saving energy usage to help protect our natural assets for future generations.”

Reflections operates under a quadruple bottom line, where sustainability and positive environmental outcomes are a significant measure of its success as a group of holiday parks.

The profit-for-purpose organisation is in the process of changing over to smart metering for its holidays parks to ensure an accurate calculation of energy costs across the group and for transparency into its energy usage.

“We are committed to becoming a low carbon holiday destination and will strive to achieve the best environmental performance in our industry by continually measuring and reducing our energy footprint, waste and water use,” Mr Baker said.

“We believe that nature is our greatest gift. We are the caretakers of breathtaking pockets of our natural world, places that are environmentally and culturally significant, Mr Baker said.
