Regional artists on display at Tweed Regional Gallery

Tweed Shire Council

Tweed Regional Gallery will present 2 new exhibitions by artists of the region from Friday 4 February to Sunday 17 April 2022: Habitat by Gold Coast ceramicists Megan Puls and Jo Norton, and SOS by Northern Rivers artist Belle Raine.

Habitat by long-time collaborators Megan Puls and Jo Norton explores the various habitats around the artists’ local environments on the coastal fringe of South East Queensland. Their intricate ceramic works are informed by the colours, textures and shapes provided by the complex natural world. The artists share a common dialogue through clay – ‘we are passionate about our environment’.

Belle Raine graduated from the Byron School of Art in 2020, completing 3 years in visual arts practice and is currently enrolled in their alumni program. Her work is influenced by film and photography, oscillating between the representational and the abstract. In her exhibition SOS, history, politics and contemporary issues are wielded together with the intimately personal.

Tweed Regional Gallery Director Susi Muddiman OAM said: “We are excited to be opening our first new exhibitions for 2022. The exhibitions are part of the Community Access Exhibitions Program, which showcases the extraordinary talent of artists from our region. These artists have very distinct practices and contribute to the region’s robust visual identity, and I am proud to be exhibiting them at the Gallery.”

All are welcome to attend the opening celebrations on Friday 11 February 2022, 6–8 pm. $25 | Bookings essential: . Light refreshments will be provided.
