Abstracts are now being called for the Celebrating the Impact of Regional Research and Education Conference to be held in Devonport in November.
The University of Tasmania Cradle Coast Academic Community of Practice is inviting abstracts for the one-day event which will celebrate Australian regional research with four specialist streams – Health; Education; Society, Community and Environment; and Agriculture, Economics and Enterprise.
Conference spokeswoman Dr Sarah Prior said the event was a wonderful opportunity for people to share their research about regional areas while in a regional setting.
“The research happening in regional and rural areas of Australia are having a significant influence on how governments, industry and business respond to demand for services,” she said.
“Showcasing what is happening in these fields at a research level will highlight the progress being made across the state and other regional areas.”
Dr Prior said it was hoped that conference delegates would make the most of the trip and explore North West Tasmania during their stay.
“It’s a beautiful part of the state and some amazing things are happening in the region, and we would love it if people turned the trip to the conference into a three or four day stay.”
Abstracts in the field of Health will address the concerted, intentional, and systematic efforts by those working together towards measurable improvement of health and wellbeing outcomes, co-designed with consumers, clinicians and services for the population in the region.
The Education theme focuses on aspects of education in regional areas of Australia, including Tasmania but not restricted to it.
Papers exploring the impact of educational projects or interventions, initial teacher education initiatives, young peoples’ aspirations, engaging young people, and other educational innovations would be welcomed.
Highlighting the unique and diverse ways in which social issues manifest in regional Australia will be the focus of the Society, Community and Environment abstracts.
Abstracts should explore innovations and approaches to creating more sustainable futures.
These themes are also reflected in the abstracts being invited for the Agriculture, Economics and Enterprise stream, which will encompass regional development, innovation, sustainability and creativity.
The interdisciplinary conference will shine the light onto the efforts of those working and researching in regional areas.
