The report is now available. This new report builds the regional evidence base and supports the Australian Government’s commitment to deliver targeted, effective and efficient regional investment that works better for our regional communities.
The report takes a look at key issues and opportunities for regions as identified at the local level, including through the Regional Development Australia committee network. This is in-line with the Government’s , which emphasises the importance of listening and responding to the voices, knowledge and priorities of regional Australians.
The report is structured under the four priority areas of the Regional Investment Framework – people, places, services, and industries and local economies – bringing together the latest data and local insights on issues such as:
- ensuring regional workforces are positioned to meet the needs of today and tomorrow
- promoting the economic aspirations, cultures and languages of First Nations people
- supporting places with amenity, services and economic opportunities
- collaboratively addressing issues like housing availability and affordability, and access to quality early childhood education and care
- preparing for, responding to, and recovering from disasters
- responding to challenges and opportunities as we transition to a net zero emissions future.
It also enhances the Government’s range of regional data tools and products, including the , , and data available from the .
